San Antonio Aguas Calientes faja – woman’s sash.
This circa-1970 faja was hand woven on a back strap belt loom. It features warp patterns
depicting flowers and shrimp. These traditional belts have now largely been replaced in San Antonio Aguas Calientes by a style that incorporates
the double supplementary weft brocade of their huipils. Hence, belts such as this one, are now very seldom made and older ones are highly
collectable. This faja is in very good condition. It was acquired from the collection of Margot Blum Schevill who acquired it in San Antonio A.C. in 1983.
W 5.5 x L 236 cm plus ties. (20-06) $ 50 or best offer.
