San Antonio Aguas Calientes ceremonial tzute. H: 32.5”, W: 44”. Code: C1523. This ceremonial tzute was hand woven on a backstrap loom in two well matched cotton base panels. The brocade surface decoration is in a fine cotton thread called “sedalina” or artificial silk. It features double supplementary brocade, unique to San Antonio Aguas Calientes, where the pattern appears equally on both sides. It is tradition that before a wedding the bride gives this tzute to the groom’s mother. Circa 1985.
