Samayac is a Quiche speaking town in the Department of Suchitépequez, on the foothills above the coastal plain
9 kilometers from the departmental capital of Mazatenango. It is distant from the highland Maya communities and
known primarily among textile collectors for its wrap skirts (cortes).
