Sacapulas vintage ceremonial huipil.

A very rare example. Hand woven on a back-strap loom in three cotton panels that are decorated with supplementary brocade in colors and geometric patterns characteristic of Sacapulas huipils. The floral decoration around the head opening is hand embroidered in silk. Much of the supplemental brocade surface decoration is also silk. Pre-1980. This very unique example is in very good condition. However one side has sun faded more than the other. It was acquired from the Museo de Tejido Antiguo in San Antonio Aguas Calientes. W 84 x L 72 cm. 22-56. $1500.
