Sacapulas ceremonial cinta (hair ribbon).

This circa-1980 cinta was hand woven on a back-strap loom in a maroonh cotton, weft-striped base panel. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade, much of it in silk. Each end has silk tassels. The use of silk indicates ceremonial use. This rare item is highly collectable and in very good condition. It was acquired from Sra. Petronila Mendez Bocó of Santa Maria de Jesus at her “tienda” in the Mercado de Artesanos in Antigua. W 10 x 256 cm plus tassels. (17-20) $ 250. OBO
