Quetzaltenango wedding huipil. W121 x L254 cm opened. This contemporary wedding huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three thin white cotton panels. The panels are joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. There is also an added embroidered collar. The primary decoration is supplementary brocade in bird, plant and geometric motifs. All decorations are a deep red, almost maroon. These huipils are very large, light weight and flowing. They are also uncommon. It is in like new condition, perhaps used once. It was acquired from Petronila Mendez Bocó of Santa Maria de Jesus. (7-235) $325 *SOLD*
