Quetzaltenango daily huipil.
W98 x L178 cm opened. This post-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in three white cotton base panels. The panels are joined by wide hand embroidered decorative seams. This huipil also features a hand embroidered floral collar decoration. The various motifs on the base fabric were achieved by supplementary brocade. Quetzaltenango huipils are popular with Maya women throughout the highlands of Guatemala. This uniquely fine example was collected from Juana Mateo Rosales of Panajachel.
