Quetzaltenango wedding style huipil.
This huipil was part of a collection of huipiles made several years ago for Mary Lou Ridinger, a
well-known archeologist and jade entrepreneur in Antigua Guatemala. The traditional examples have certain specific colors. Those made
for Ms Ridinger are of traditional methods, structure and iconography, but sometimes in traditional colors and sometimes in very different
colors. This example on a mauve base is a good example of the latter. We bought several. They are foot treadle loomed in three cotton
panels and on this example the panels are joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The brocade and embroidery
on this example are in silk. It is lightweight and flowing. It is in very good condition. W 119 x L 114 (21-04) $ 320 or best offer.
