Quetzaltenango ceremonial huipil.
This exceptional circa-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three well matched white cotton panels joined by hand embroidered
decorative seams. These panels are decorated with rows of supplementary brocade in the colors most typical of Quetzaltenango ceremonial and
wedding huipils. The surface decoration features bird, plant and geometric motifs in silk. It has a matching hand embroidered collar decoration
in silk. It is in very good condition. This unique example was acquired from the collection of archaeologist Mary Lou Ridinger of Antigua. It
