Quetzaltenango/Totonicapan daily huipil.
This post-2000 huipil was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in one white
cotton base panel that are joined by embroidered decorative seams. The surface decoration includes weft stripes of
supplementary brocade in geometric patterns and in simple ikat dye patterns. These huipils are popular with Maya
women throughout the highlands of Guatemala. This example was acquired from Sra. Elena Escalon at the La Fuente
textile market in Antigua. It is in excellent condition.
