Quetzaltenango vintage rebozo (shawl).

This exceptional circa-1960 rebozo was hand woven on a back strap loom in one warp-striped panel. The weft is cotton and the warp is cotton where there are ikat designs and silk, in three colors, otherwise. It features ikat chevrons typical of Quetzaltenago rebozos, here done in indigo. The fringes are hand-knotted warp threads. The tassels are primarily wool. It is old and very soft. Quetzaltenango silk rebozos are rare and are no longer produced. This very beautiful example was acquired from the collection of Martha Egan of Santa Fe, NM and is in very good condition. W 69 x L 186 cm plus fringes. (16-206) $ 375. OBO
