Quetzaltenango daily huipil.

This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in three white cotton base panels that are joined by hand-embroidered decorative seams. The surface decoration includes weft stripes of supplementary brocade in geometric patterns and in simple ikat dye patterns. The head opening is decorated with a hand embroidered appliqué collar. Quetzaltenango huipils are popular with Maya women throughout the highlands of Guatemala. This beautiful example was acquired from Sra. Ema and Carmen Tepeú at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. It is in excellent condition. W 92 x L 66 cm. (16-101) $ 125. OBO
