Quetzaltenango daily huipil.

This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in three white cotton base panels that are joined by embroidered decorative seams. The surface decoration features weft stripes of supplementary brocade in geometric patterns and in ikat dye patterns. The head opening is decorated with an embroidered collar. Quetzaltenango huipils are popular with Maya women throughout the highlands of Guatemala. This classic example was acquired from the collection of the Centro de Textiles Tradicionales Nim Po’t in Antigua. It is in very good condition. W 90 x L 71 cm. (15-82) $ 110. OBO
