Quetzaltenango daily huipil.

This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in three white cotton base panels joined by hand-embroidered decorative seams. The surface decoration features weft stripes in ikat dye patterns. The head and arm openings are decorated with hand-embroidered flowers. Quetzaltenango huipils are popular with Maya women throughout the highlands of Guatemala. This beautiful example was acquired from Maria Sacajan Perez at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua.
