Quetzaltenango daily huipil.
This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in three cotton base panels that are
joined by embroidered decorative seams. The surface decoration features weft stripes of supplementary brocade in geometric patterns
and in ikat dye patterns. The head opening is decorated with an embroidered collar. Quetzaltenango huipils are popular with Maya women
throughout the highlands of Guatemala. This lovely example was acquired from
Ema and Carmen Tepeu at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. It is in very good condition. W 99 x L 71 cm. (15-205) $ 80. OBO
