Quetzaltenango daily huipil.
This large post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in one wide white cotton base panel. The supplementary brocade decoration features “pavo
real” and double-headed eagle motifs. It has pseudo “randas” in floral motifs where there is actually no seam. It has an appliqué collar that is hand
embroidered. This example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Estefana Culajah at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua Guatemala.
W97 x L79 cm. (12-139) $ 95.
