Quetzaltenango daily huipil. W 84 x L 142 cm opened. This post-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a foot treadle
loom in 3 cotton base panels. These panels are joined by extravagant hand embroidered floral decorative seams.
The great majority of these huipils have the panels joined by machine embroidery, so this one is exceptional. It
also features hand embroidered appliqué collar decoration that has been opened for easier access. It has weft
stripes with ikat dye patterns and intact smocking. It is in excellent condition. It was collected from Ema and
Carmen Tepeu at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. (11-54) $ 140. Sold.
