Quetzaltenango wedding huipil. W 127 x L 268 cm opened. This beautiful contemporary huipil was hand woven on a
back strap loom in three well matched blue cotton panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams in matching
blue. These panels are decorated with supplementary brocade in various pastel colored rayon featuring bird, plant
and geometric motifs. It has a matching hand embroidered collar added. We have never previously seen a
Quetzaltenango wedding huipil in these colors. It is in like new condition. It was acquired from Petronila
Mendez Bocó of Santa Maria de Jesus at the Artesanos market in Antigua. See Petronila’s picture in our “Vendors”
