Quetzaltenango rebozo (shawl).
This post-1980 rebozo was hand woven on a back strap loom in one warp striped cotton panel with hand knotted fringes at both
ends. It features ikat dye patterns of chevrons typical of Quetzaltenago rebozos in indigo. Ikat is a dyeing technique used to pattern textiles that employs
a resist dying process similar to tie-dye. It is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Tomasa Calbo Mateo of Chichicastenango at the “bomberos”
textile market in Panajachel. W73 x L188 cm plus fringes. (11-197) $ 75.
