Quetzaltenango daily huipil.
W97 x L168 cm opened. This extra-large contemporary huipil was hand woven on a foot
treadle loom in 3 white cotton base panels. These panels are joined by thick hand embroidered decorative seams
using a chain stitch. The supplementary brocade decoration features a variety of bird, plant and plumed serpent
motifs. It has an appliqué collar that is hand embroidered, opened for easier access and trimmed with velvet.
This fine example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Bonifacia Mendez Boco of Santa Maria de Jesus. W97 x L168 cm opened.
