Patzun vintage ceremonial huipil. W124 x L120 cm opened. This museum quality circa-1950 or earlier vintage ceremonial huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two cotton panels. The panels are joined by multi-colored silk and cotton decorative seams. The base thread was hand spun. The neck hole is surrounded by all silk hand embroidery in the plumas design. Such huipils were used in ceremonies of the Patzun cofradia society. This example is completely unique and very rare. It is in good condition considering its age. It was purchased from the Nim Po’t Collection of Antigua Guatemala. (6-293) $ 550. Sold.
