Patzún daily huipil.
This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two cotton/rayon blend warp-striped
panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. This base fabric is known as “aleman” and is prized for its softness
and drape. This huipil features extensive hand embroidered decoration in the traditional but less common “plumas”
(or Maya calendar) motif often associated with ceremonial huipils. This classic example is in very good condition.
It was acquired from Sra. Juana Tresovalina Chuc at the “bomberos” textile market in Panajachel.
