Patzún daily huipil.

This circa-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two cotton/rayon blend warp-striped panels joined by “randas”, hand embroidered decorative seams. This base material is known as “aleman” and is prized for its softness and drape. This huipil features extensive hand embroidered decoration in the traditional but less common “plumas” motif, more often associated with ceremonial huipils. It is in very good condition. It was acquired from Juanita Conos of Chichicastenango at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua Guatemala. W88 x L54 cm. (12-291) $ 110.
