This circa 1960 ceremonial huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two predominantly dark red cotton panels joined by a hand embroidered decorative seams. These panels feature supplementary brocade, much of it and the decorative seams in silk. It also features thin warp stripes in indigo. Patzicía ceremonial huipils are rare, especially this old and with silk. This example is in good condition although there is evident wear on the silk brocade.
