Patzicía ceremonial huipil.
The pre-1980 ceremonial huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well balanced red cotton panels
joined by a hand embroidered decorative seam. Much of the supplementary brocade and the decorative seams is in silk. It
features thin warp stripes in ixcaco – hand spun naturally brown cotton. Patzicía ceremonial huipils are rare and especially so
with silk and ixcaco decoration. This is an exceptional example. It is in very good condition although there is evident
wear on the silk brocade. It was collected from Maria Isabel Gonzales of Patzicía. W120 x L106 cm opened. (8-92) $ 225. OBO
