Patzicia ceremonial huipil.

This rare circa-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two wide, warp-striped and well-matched cotton panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. Very thin warp stripes in hand spun natural brown cotton. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade featuring human and geometric designs typical of Patzicia. This fine example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Sra. Maria Isabel Gonzales of Patzicia at the “bomberos” textile market in Panajachel. W124 x L49 cm. (13-05) $225. OBO
