Patzicía daily huipil.
This post-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two white warp-striped base panels. The base panels are "aleman",
a blend of cotton and rayon prized for its softness and drape. The panels are decorated with supplementary brocade in patterns typical to Patzicia,
particularly the horizontal rows of human figures. Patzicia huipils are uncommon, especially on a white base. This example is in excellent condition.
It was acquired from Petronila Mendez Bocó of Santa Maria de Jesus at the Mercado des Artesanos in Antigua Guatemala. W 81 x L 52 cm. (12-292) $ 100.
