Patzicía daily huipil. W88 x L137 cm opened. This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two
very well balanced red base cotton/rayon base panels. This base fabric combination is known as "aleman" and it is
prized for its softness and drape. The panels are densely decorated with supplementary brocade in horizontal bands
of geometric patterns typical of Patzicia. The collar is fluted and the arm holes are trimmed with crochet .
Patzicia huipils are increasingly rare and this is a fine example. It is in excellent condition. It was
acquired from Juana Mateo Rosales of Panajachel. (10-69) $ 110. Sold.
