Panajachel daily huipil.
This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three warp-striped dark red
cotton blend panels decorated with supplementary brocade. The brocade features rows of cats and birds. The head
opening is finished with hand embroidery chain stitch. The arm openings are trimmed with velvet. Panajachel
huipils are increasingly rare. This example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from the Centro de Textiles
Tradicionales Nim Po’t in Antigua Guatemala. W 80 x L 65 cm. (15-75) Was $ 160. Now $125 OBO.
