Palin huipil. Believed to be ceremonial.

This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in a single white cotton base panel that typically is red on its outer edges. This panel is decorated with supplementary brocade featuring the central motif of the double-headed eagle surrounded by plant and universal diamond motifs. Palin huipils are increasingly uncommon. This example is unusual in that it is super-large for a Palin huipil. Larger than any other example we’ve previously had. It is in excellent condition. It was acquired from a private collection in Antigua. W 95 x L 50 cm. (19-144) $ 200 or best offer.
