San Antonio Nejapa daily huipil.

This rare post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in 3 red and white striped cotton panels. The center panel is wider and more heavily decorated with supplementary brocade featuring bird and universal diamond motifs. The collar is trimmed with hand embroidery. We have it on good authority that there remains only 3 women from one family who are still weaving San Antonio Nejapa huipils. Hence, these huipils are now very rare. This example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Milagro Chavez of San Juan Sacatepequez at the La Fuente market in Antigua. W80 x L134 cm opened. (9-76) $ 175. OBO
