San Antonio Nejapa daily huipil. W103 x L142 opened. This rare post-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in 3 red and white striped cotton panels. All the panels are the same width. It features bird and universal diamond designs in supplementary brocade. The neck hole is finished with a hand embroidered chain stitch. We have it on good authority that there remains only 3 women from the same family who are still weaving traditional San Antonio Nejapa huipils. They are very rare. This example is in like new condition and probably the best we’ve ever seen. It was collected from Milagro Chavez of San Juan Sacatepequez. (7-49) $ 300 *SOLD*
