San Antonio Nejapa daily huipil.

This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back- strap loom in three red and white warp-striped cotton panels. The center panel is more heavily decorated with supplementary brocade featuring bird and universal diamond motifs. The collar is trimmed with hand embroidered chain stitch. We have it on good authority that there remains only three women from one family who are still weaving San Antonio Nejapa huipils. Hence, these huipils are now very rare. This example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Milagro Chavez of San Juan Sacatepequez at the La Fuente market in Antigua. W 82 x L 67 cm. (15-237) $ 320. OBO
