San Antonio Nejapa daily huipil.

This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in 3 brown and white warp striped cotton panels. These panels are decorated with supplementary brocade featuring bird and universal diamond motifs. The center panel is wider and more heavily decorated. The collar is trimmed with hand embroidered buttonhole stitch. We are told that there remains only 3 women from one family who are still weaving San Antonio Nejapa huipils. Hence, these huipils are now quite rare. This exceptional example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Sra. Milagro Chavez of San Juan Sacatepequez at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua Guatemala. See Milagro’s picture in our “Vendors” section. W 80 x L 67 cm. (11-49) Was $195. Now $150 OBO.
