Nahuala ceremonial huipil.

This huipil is believed to be ceremonial because of its three panel construction and the well executed double-headed eagle motifs. This style of Nahuala huipils is referred to in Quiche as “kashlan po’t”. This circa-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three white cotton panels decorated with supplementary brocade in cotton. Typical of older Nahuala huipils, the red brocade was bled on to the white base. This is an intentional design feature. This fine example is in very good condition. It was collected from Ana Carolina Ajanel of Chichicastenango. W80 x L128 cm opened. (9-42) $ 75. OBO
