Nahuala huipil. W80 x L135 cm opened. This circa-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well-balanced white cotton base panels. The
panels are joined by a hand embroidered decorative seam and are densely decorated with supplementary brocade in cotton and rayon. This brocade features the
double-headed eagle motif repeated identically 48 times. The brocade was intentionally done in a non-color fast thread so as to bleed onto the white base.
The collar is trimmed by an embroidered chain stitch. It is in very good condition. It was acquired from Petronila Mendez Bocó of Santa Maria de Jesus.
