Nahuala ceremonial huipil. W88 x L116 cm opened. This pre-1980 ceremonial huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in 3 cotton panels. The center panel is wider (34 cm) than the side panels and features a large double-headed eagle motifs in supplementary brocade. The side panels feature plumed serpent motifs across the shoulders and 2 large birds on each side. The base material has been stained intentionally with red, a typical feature of older Nahuala huipils. Huipils of this design are know as Kashlan Po’t and are used ceremonially. It is in very good condition. It was collected from Tomasa Calbó Mateo of Chichicastenango. (7-28) $ 75 *SOLD*
