Nahuala daily huipil. (or from its nearby “aldea”, Santa Catarina Ixtahuacan).
This circa-2000 huipil was hand woven on a back-strap loom in three indigo-dyed, warp-striped cotton panels. These panels are decorated with
supplementary brocade featuring zoomorphic duality motifs on the center panel and lion motifs on the outer. This fine example is in excellent condition.
It was acquired from Sra. Gladys Medoza of Santa Maria de Jesus at her stall in the Mercado des Artesanos in Antigua.
W 90 x L 63 cm. (21-93) $ 140 or best offer.
