Nahuala ceremonial huipil.
This circa-2000 huipil was hand woven on a back-strap loom in three indigo blue dyed, warp striped cotton blend panels, a cloth known as “aleman”
that is prized for its softness and drape. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade in cotton and rayon featuring the double-headed eagle motif.
This example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Sra. Ana Carolina Ajanel in Chichicastenango. W 74 x L 61 cm. (21-65) $ 125 or best offer.
