Nahuala vintage daily huipil.

This pre-1980 huipil is long and wide, characteristic of an older style. It was hand woven on a back strap loom in two white cotton panels decorated with supplementary brocade in the general “petate” format and featuring a band of “plumed serpent” motifs across the shoulders. The base thread is hand spun. The surface decoration is more extensive on the back than the front. This classic example is in very good condition. The collar is in the t-shape traditional in Nahualá. It was acquired from the collection of archaeologist and jade expert, Mary Lou Ridinger, of Antigua. www.jademaya.com W 100 x L 101 cm. (20-45) $ 220 or best offer.
