Nahualá daily huipil.

Possibly from its nearby “aldea”, Santa Catarina Ixtahuacán. I associate the lion motif with there. Hand woven on a back strap loom in two warp-striped, indigo dyed cotton panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The surface decoration is supplemental brocade and features lion motifs. It is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Sra. Carmen Tepeu of San Pedro Sacatepequez (G) in Antigua. W 77 x L 75 cm. (20-11) $ 100 or best offer.
