Nahuala daily huipil.

This circa-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well-balanced white cotton base panels. The panels are joined by hand embroidered decorative seams and are decorated with supplementary brocade in cotton and rayon. The overall design is in the “petate” format with bands of plumed serpent motifs above and below. There is an intentional stain that may be from non-color fast thread or it was painted on. The head and arm openings are trimmed by a hand embroidered buttonhole stitch. This very traditional example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Sra. Rose Hernandez in Santa Maria de Jesus. W 81 x L 75 cm. (20-03) $ 110 or best offer.
