Nahuala daily huipil.
This huipil was hand woven on a back-strap loom in two well balanced, warp-striped cotton panels joined by
hand embroidered decorative seams. The blue base thread is the natural dye, indigo. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade
in cotton and rayon (to mimic silk) featuring “angry woman” motifs and quetzal motifs across the shoulders. This fine example is in
excellent condition. It was acquired from Sra. Ema Tepeú at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua.
