Nahuala daily huipil.

This circa-2000 huipil was hand woven on a back-strap loom in two well balanced, warp-striped cotton panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The blue base thread is the natural dye, indigo. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade in cotton and rayon (to mimic silk) featuring “double-headed eagle” motifs across the chest and “universal diamond” motifs across the shoulders. This fine example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Sra. Juana Escalon at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. W 85 x L 61 cm. (17-71) $ 90. OBO
