Nahuala daily huipil.

This circa-2000 huipil was hand woven on a back-strap loom in two well balanced, warp-striped cotton panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The blue base thread is the natural dye, indigo. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade in cotton and rayon (to mimic silk) featuring “zoomorphic” motifs and a “plumed serpent” motif across the shoulders. This fine example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Sra. Carmen Tepeú at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. W 87 x L 67 cm. (17-70) $ 110. OBO
