Nahuala daily huipil.

This pre-2000 huipil was hand woven on a back-strap loom in two well balanced, warp-striped cotton panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The blue base thread is the natural dye, indigo. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade in cotton and rayon (to mimic silk) featuring “pavo real” motifs. This unique example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Sra. Elena Escalon at the “bomberos” textile market in Panajachel. W 82 x L 72 cm. (17-69) $ 120. OBO
