Nahuala daily huipil.

This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back-strap loom in two wide, well balanced, warp-striped cotton panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The blue base thread is the natural dye, indigo. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade in cotton and rayon (to mimic silk) featuring masked dancer motifs. This unique example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Sra. Ana Carolina Ajanel at her tienda in Chichicastenango. W 88 x L 82 cm. (16-97) $ 120. OBO
