Nahuala daily huipil.
This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well-balanced, warp striped
blue cotton panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The base thread is dyed with indigo. The surface
decoration is supplementary brocade in cotton and rayon (to mimic silk). The principal motif is the tree of life.
This very fine example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Ema and Carmen Tepeú at the La Fuente
textile market in Antigua. W 86 x L 57 cm. (15-61) $ 85. OBO
