Nahuala daily huipil.
This circa-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three white cotton panels.
The center panel is wider and more heavily decorated. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade in cotton
and rayon (to mimic silk). The principal motif is of costumed dancers. Typical of older Nahuala huipils, the
purple brocade has bleed on to the white base. This was an intentional design feature. This fine example is in
very good condition. It was collected from Emilio Sol on Calle Santander in Panajachel. W 93 x L 71 cm.
