Nahuala daily huipil.
This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back-strap loom in two well balanced,
warp-striped cotton panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The blue base thread is dyed with
indigo. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade in cotton and rayon (to mimic silk) featuring
horizontal bans of the plumed serpent motif. This very fine example is in very good condition.
From Ema and Carmen Tepeú at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. W 84 x L 72 cm. (15-268) $ 125. OBO
